Background

Crystallization is the process of solid formation in which the atoms or molecules are highly organized into a structure called a crystal. Crystallization occurs in two major steps. The first step is nucleation process in which a crystalline phase appears from a supercooled liquid or a supersaturated solvent. The second step is crystal growth due to an increase in particle size leading to a crystal state. Successful crystallization relies on various factors, such as the quality, solubility and purity of the sample as well as the sensitivity of the sample to pH, temperature, ionic strength, etc. Crystallization plays an important role in structure determination of nucleic acids, proteins, complexes, and small molecules.

Structure determination is an important step in determining the function of a molecule, especially for a protein. In many diseases, changes in molecular structure are involved in the pathologic process, and understanding these changes can help in designing therapies. Kinases and phosphatases are two important superfamilies of enzymes involved in cell signal transduction and represent potential therapeutic targets for a range of diseases. Determining the crystal structures of kinases and phosphatases, their activation domains in complex, and the small molecules that target them is essential for elucidating complex phosphorylation signaling pathways and developing new drugs.

We provide expertise and advanced equipment for growing high-quality crystals of nucleic acids, proteins, complexes and small molecules. Samples for crystallization services can be provided by the customer or prepared by us. If you have any additional questions, please fill out the online inquiry form and let us know more details.

Nucleic Acid Crystallization

Nucleic acid crystallization has become the limiting step in their structural determination. We offer professional nucleic acid crystallization services starting with nucleic acid isolation or de novo synthesis. A variety of purification strategies, such as polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, thin layer chromatography, and column chromatography, are available to obtain high-quality samples. We also provide different crystallization methods to help customers achieve their goals.

Protein Crystallization

Crystal structures are important to offer insights into structure-function relationships of proteins. We have a structural biology team dedicated to help our customers determine the chemical, biochemical and physical conditions for protein crystallization and find the right combination of parameters to obtain optimal sample for downstream analysis. Upstream services from protein production to protein analysis are also available for your choice.

Crystallization of Complexes

Biomolecular complexes, generally composed of proteins, RNA, DNA, or combinations of them, carry out essential cellular processes. Our scientific team is specialized in crystallization of different types of complexes, including but not limited to protein-protein complexes, protein-ligand complexes, protein-nucleic acid complexes, and antibody-antigen complexes.

Small Molecule Crystallization

Small-molecule crystal structures is the basis for structure-based drug design. We offer both small molecule crystallization and crystalline quality optimization services to support small molecule structure determination. Our scientific team has developed different strategies for control of crystallization of polymorphs. We also have the ability to perform pharmaceutical polymorph screening and characterization to support small molecule drug discovery.

Structure Determination

Structure determination is the process to solve the three-dimensional atomic coordinates of biomolecules using analytical techniques. We provide a comprehensive platform containing several key technologies such as NMR, X-ray crystallography, and cryo-EM for structure determination of nucleic acids, proteins, complexes, and small molecules. We have a team of experienced scientists dedicated to providing our customers with efficient data collection and high-quality structural analysis services.

Creative BioMart has many years of experience and expertise in structural biology and kinase/phosphatase biology. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and technology, we can deliver reliable crystallization and structure determination services with a short turnaround time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
